Starting in late September, we are bringing our playful Stitch Bingo project to people living in Ladywood constituency, and this time, the game will have a heritage twist!

Who can take part?
This woolly wellness project is designed exclusively for adults aged 18-49 who find it difficult to access or join in with craft groups due to a long-term health condition or disability.
You will need to live in one of the following Ladywood constituency areas to be eligible to take part as this project is funded by Ladywood Neighbourhood Network Scheme: Aston, Bordesley & Highgate, Bordesley Green, Holyhead, Ladywood, Lozells, Nechells, Newtown, North Edgbaston and Soho & Jewellery Quarter.
This is an online project and you will need access to the internet to take part. We will be using Zoom for the online workshops.
Need support from a carer or support worker to take part? We can provide extra online tutorials and advice for someone to help you get the most from your experience with us. Why not stitch together?
There are limited places available on the projects, but you can join in at anytime after it begins if there are spaces available.
What will you be stitching?
You’ll be stitching your own BINGO CARD artworks – which you can keep at the end of the project.
We mentioned there will be a heritage twist to the project? Well, that’s a massive clue! All design motifs will represent an historic landmark, event or something made in Ladywood constituency – and we’ll be learning a little bit about them as we stitch too!
The example here was stitched by Irene in a different Stitch Bingo project, but it gives you an idea. This time, we will be using smaller and separate plastic canvas for each design. These are easy to hold and stitch.

What to expect
Once you have got in touch (if you are eligible for the project) we will send you a form to register. You will have the opportunity to tell us about your access needs and we can look for ways together to make adjustments if necessary to ensure your participation on the project is comfortable.
We will send you a Woolly Wellness pack in the post with the resources you will need over 6 months. This includes:
– a unique bingo card template
– canvas, bundles of yarn, and a needle
– Instructions
– Tea bags and packets of biscuits!
Instead of meeting in person, we’ll be meeting online every two weeks over 6 months for short relaxing and friendly stitch tutorial and a natter. This will be on Zoom.
New motif designs and materials will be sent to you regularly in the post so you have something to look forward to popping through your door!
During the project you can keep in contact with us (Tina and Suze) and other stitchers via a project-related WhatsApp group if you would like to.
At the end of the project we’ll have a hybrid celebration get together and game of Bingo using our stitched bingo cards – this could be in person or online if you prefer.
